This cast is of an authentic Scottsbluff point from Brown County, Ill.  Measuring 3 and a half inches long in a light colored Avon chert, it is a fine example of the type.  Scottsbluff points are considered part of the Cody Complex of the transitional Archaic/Paleoindian time period around 8 to 10,000 years ago.  The range is considered to be mostly in the midwest, from the Rockies to the fringe of the Eastern Woodlands.   This example was sent to Occpaleo for molding/casting from private collection in 2013. (COA Howard 07)(COA Partain 08)(COA Putty08) cast copyright Occpaleo 2019.
