This small chert hide scraper was sent to Occpaleo in 2021,  from the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, to aid in the teaching programs of the Portland, Maine public school systems.  It is from the Auburn/Augusta area(site # 14.163.240).  Often called thumbnail scrapers, it only measures 26mm long by 20mm wide.  These are very similar to recent finds of Clovis Paleoindian thumbnail scrapers found in the Chesapeake area, and would have been hafted into a wood or antler handle to be able to utilize.  (Cast copyright Occpaleo 2022)
