A LITHIC CAST of a Haskett projectile point from Harney County, Oregon. The authentic original was graciously loaned to Occpaleo for molding and casting in 2025, from the Burns Bureau of Land Management, so that it could have further reach in study. This excellent example was made in Oregon Obsidian sourced to the Glass Buttes 1 area, and the testing spot can be seen in picture above of original(filled in during molding process). It dates to around 9 to 11,000 years ago and possible back further into the Ice Age as dates for the Western Stemmed tradition gets pushed back with new evidence. It measures 124mm(4 and 7/8th inches) long, 30mm wide, and 7mm thick. This point still shows the edge angles of a tool that has not yet been used and resharpened, and the basal edges have not been heavily abraded. Special thanks to archaeologist Patrick O'Grady/Burns BLM (Copyright Occpaleo 2025)
