MODERN KNAPPED.  An all primitive/traditional model of an atlatl dart removeable foreshaft.   The full length is 12 inches, and the point is a near 4 inch(95mm) long modern knapped replica of a Cody/Scottsbluff style point from the archaeology of the North American northern Plains.  This type of tools dates to around 8 to 11,000 years ago, and a western Jasper material was used. It is a type fittting for much of the period when the atlatl dart system was mainly in use. The shaft is made in Wild Currant sapling, and the point is set in with pine pitch/charcoal primitive glue, and then lashed with real Elk sinew. The foreshaft could be carved at the base to fit any other dart model, or used as teaching tool in its current state, or used as a knife.  The foreshaft system was used universally as a way to use interchangeable points with main spear/dart shafts, and to be able to alter the point mass and balance of the whole dart.  It also allows reloading of new points during the hunt, and the foreshaft itself can be taken out and used for handheld cutting.
